E-24E0 by IgorKutuzov E-24E0 by IgorKutuzov
"This beast might fire slowly compared to other saturation weapons that close in fighters use... but give an experienced gunner a solid position and a E-24 and he can give serious problems even to well organized forces not to mention you can shoot munitions down range when others don't even have you in range"
- Gordon Litterman

The E-24E0 is a powerful and perfoming MMG (Medium Machine Gun) this new class of support weapon use larger caliber munitions than standard GPMGs infact the E-24 fire the famous .338 rounds of course in it's CTA version the main advantages of using this powerful munition are the increased lethality and range infact the weapon have 4 times the power on target at 1700 meters compared to the 7.62x51mm munitions fired by an M240 Bravo, the weapon have been choosen mainly for the TF-E need of serious firepower and also to outrange the support weapons of Syndicate-3 drones
of course as most of the E-series weapons the E-24E0 as well can be used to fire with different round types here the 3 main types of ammunition (from left to right) :
- Standard 8.58mm Ball the basic munitions able to deal with any kind of threath it's the most used due to the fact the large caliber is powerful enought to pirce S-3 drones armor, the belt have 4 standard ball an a AP round
- High Propulsion 8.58mm enhanched power that generate overpressure to increase speed and lethality of rounds, but the overpressure also reduce the operative life of the barrel of the weapon, the belt have same configuration of standard munitions with 4 standard ball an a AP round
- SABOT Flechette 8.58mm Ammo the most penetrating round that can be fired from the weapon, it's the same of standard munitions but this replace the AP round with a SABOT

Cal.: 8.58 mm (.338)
Mag: light polimer box mag with 100 round belt
F. Modes: 3 position Selector Safe, 3-round burst and full-auto
ROF: 500 RPM
weight: 9.3 Kg

Very nice.
Exactly how I'd imagine a modernised M240 to look, in the wake of a successful LSAT project.

The LSAT Project has a second Weapon in development; an Assault Rifle, as it is still on going.

Nice. But isn't the .338 a sniper round?
parakitteh Featured By Owner Mar 19, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
The .338 Lapua Magnum, yes.
The .338 Norma as undergoing testing in the LWMMG project? Nope. Well, sort of. It was intended as a cartridge to answer the fact that .338LM is very long. But Norma is not match-grade or handloaded, making it suitable for more roles.

Note that .338 is actually a popular calibre anyway. Hence wildcats like .338 Federal (7.62x51 NATO) and .338-06 (self explanatory).

I see.

the LWMMG project is under evaluation in the united states the use of belt fed .338 norma magnum rounds permit to outrange enemy OPFOR forces that use PKM that fire 7.62x54mm

this does kinda answer your question the .338 is a performing and accurate munition the .308 it's the same, used in sniper rifles and also in Light Machine guns
